Terroir
San Pedro Norte
A terroir with character and mystique in the northwest of Córdoba.
Bodega Del Gredal sits in San Pedro Norte, a singular place in the northwest of Córdoba. Our purpose is to capture the nature of this land: stony soils rich in calcium carbonate, the quiscaloro cactus, the aridity, the ranges and the wind.
To the west rises Mount Misotorco. To the east, the colonial houses of Tulumba and the traces of El Camino Real. Stories of native peoples and of the first travellers between Alto Perú and the Río de la Plata live on in this place.
History
The Royal Road
El Camino Real passed through here — the colonial route connecting Lima with Buenos Aires. Its postas still echo in the local place names: Pozo del Tigre, San Pedro Viejo, Santa Cruz, Inti Huasi, Tulumba, Macha, Totoral, Sinsacate.
Belgrano, San Martín, Facundo Quiroga, Lavalle, "Pancho" Ramírez, Liniers and Bustos walked this ground. The church of the San Pedro Viejo estancia, with its image of the patron "San Pedrito", has kept the memory of that founding passage since the 1600s.
This historical, mineral landscape is the matter our wines speak with. Its silence, its dust, its light, live in every glass.
Por el camino REAL va haciendo huella la historia…Along the ROYAL road, / history makes its mark…
